BADASS Film Festival: Special Preview SUGAR ROT
3:00PM - SUNDAY, OCT 20, 2024

The Tenth Annual Vancouver Badass  Film Festival kicks off with a Preview Screening of the Rio’s own Becca Kozak (Girls with Guts)’s first outrageous narrative feature Sugar Rot (Canada, 80 minutes), described as a wild “exploitation film that’s both funny and punk with some intellectual bite if you can get past the initial shock.” Some parts of the film were shot in and around The Rio Theatre including with the band Daddy Issues on stage. Cast and crew attending with filmmakers Q&A following the screenings. Preceded by the very sexy BDSM short Contraception (Canada, 4.5 minutes, dir Becca Kozak), and Nadine L’Esperance’s insane bloody puppet shocker: From One Hole to Another (Canada, 7mins). All the trigger warnings for an early John Waters/Troma-esque exploitation for a new generation afternoon launch of Badass 10.
